Pep just revealed what type of human he appreciates and Bernie fits the bill.
No way he’s going anytime soon.

Bernie's not going anywhere, but if you look at our current first choice front 5 line-up - Gundogan, KDB, Mahrez, Foden, Bernardo - ask yourself who's going to be replaced by a £100m striker when one comes.

He's an excellent player in this system because he can just be the extra man and run hard, link up play and press. When we go back to a 433, he needs to either start running the midfield like Gundogan, or provide lots of goals and assists like Foden, Mahrez and KDB. 18/19 he was genuinely brilliant and it's because he had 30 Goals and Assists added to his hard working, play linking, pressing football. He needs to bring that back.

Otherwise he's probably going straight back to the bench for most games unless Pep thinks the midfield is going to be overrun and he needs the extra man more than a striker.

Well non of them are a striker so I would assume they are all safe . Plus city’s ambition has grown a lot bigger then just a cup a year .
All of the players mentioned above will be rotated like how it was done this season and fight on four fronts .

I could not have been clearer that I was talking about a place in the starting 11 and yet you've chosen to pretend I was talking about a place in the squad.

I thought I WAS talking about the starting 11 but not the squad filler .
Anyways don’t mean to hijack this thread .
Cheers

Ferran, Haaland, or whoever start playing with a real striker up top, it means dropping one of KdB, Gundogan and Bernie.

This was a discussion that started earlier in the season about what does Pep do, and he responded by just playing all 3 with false 9, but that's probably not the long term plan.

In terms of age, Bernardo has that on his side over the other 2, but I'm also of the mind that we have 3 midfielders for 2 spots, and that there isn't really an issue here if one get's dropped for the other 2 regularly for rotation.

Right now all 3 play every big game, but next season, I don't think so, unless Gundogan goes back to a #6.

The answer is Mahrez for me. Ive enjoyed his first fully non FFS season but given the choice I'd have Bern any day.
