22 | Vitor Reis - 2025/26 (on loan at Girona)

Has asked to leave on loan apparently. With Leverkusen amongst his suitors.

Shame, was hoping he'd make his mark this season.
How could he?

I really rate him as well and think he is good enough to play for us.

But we are very likely going to only play 2 CBs and have:

Gvardiol, Ake, Dias, Stones, Khusanov and Akanji ahead of him.

It's unfortunate we couldn't get a couple of them to leave.

Yeah, that was my hope - some would be moved on.

Same, I think he probably learned about this, and correctly said he wanted a loan.

Think that was a good decision from him.

Girona should also be a good environment for him, no language barrier, chill environment to develop.

He will kill it there, and along with Bah, both will come back to replace Akanji, Stones and Ake when their contracts run down just in time.

Atleast that how it makes most sense in my head lol.

You think he's been told nobody will leave before the end of the transfer window,

No language barrier hes brazillian who speaks Portuguese

I’m not against him going out on loan this season tbh. He’s at a point where he needs to be playing pretty regularly to grow into himself/the senior game and if he stays he’s not seeing the pitch often this season let’s be honest.

Dias/Gvardiol/Akanji/Khusanov and when either are fit Ake & Stones provided they stay would all be ahead of him I imagine.

Arguably should be staying over Akanji, Ake and Stones but don’t think Pep wants rid of too many of the old guard in one summer. Will want some stability back there I’d imagine, especially if we’re bedding in Trafford as the new keeper over the course of the season. Reis has only played a handful of senior games in his career so far after all.

Get him a years experience in a top league and bring him back into the fold next year a more mature player

It’s time to tell a few of the older players “It’s time. You’re probably not going to play and if you want a decent move while you’ve still got something to offer a decent team, it’s time to call your agent and get the ball rolling.”

We are in danger of making the same mistake with the defence that we made with the midfield last season…one season too many, and injuries that decimate the team structure.

We bought the lad to be a City player, played him a few times, he looked like a NEW John Stones (silky, tidy, good ball player), yet here we are still hanging on to Stones, Ake and Akanji as half of our defensive structure?

Ake & Akanji both want World Cup football and should move on to ensure they’re fit and ready. Stones? Being HG helps him, he is much beloved, and is almost certain to be more available this season that last!

Dias, Gvardiol, Stones, Khusanov and Reis looks to me like plenty of CB cover, with 3 or 4 of them able to provide full back cover and they could all operate well in a back 3, with a roving R.A.N.

The players talk to each other regularly obviously.

And quite obviously the players, along with their agents will know about playing time and make decisions based on that.

Him going on loan is obvious.

I was just trying to understand what he learned about mate.
I couldn't tell from the conversation what you were refering to.

Loan is the best move for him. He has already lost 6 months of first team football because we told him we needed him immediately and wouldn’t loan him back to palmeirais to then barely use him at all.

No point in him hanging around, because even when Ake and stones weren’t available he still didn’t even make the bench.

What's the point of buying young players anymore?

How will they know about playing time if they won't know who might go in the next 4 weeks?

Akanji will get WC football whether he plays or not. He is his country's best defender

Except he speaks Portuguese and Girona is in Spain…
