I’m not sure we’re even watching the same games. Gvardiol has his shaky moments, sure, but even with that he’s miles, miles better than Stones and Aké. Both of them kill us with their mistakes whenever they play. Stones keeps messing up when we try to hold the offside line — even when it works, he slips. He slips a few times every match, and almost every time it gives the opposition a chance. We were a worse team when Stones was playing — that was especially obvious in the games against Tottenham and Brighton.
Aké looks like he’s playing in slow motion. Injuries have completely ruined him.
The only one with the right physical attributes to replace Gvardiol is Khusanov.
And putting all that aside — our record with Dias and Gvardiol as the starting CB partnership is immense. There’s no reason to change it.
