25 | Gianluigi Donnarumma - 2025/26

It was time to move on from Eddie and this guy was available.

Hardly a bad move and PSG dominated with him.

I think he is part of a solid spine.

If he had the same team in front of him as Ederson did, he wouldn’t be seen as a problem.

I think that is one of the problems. The players are not as comfortable on the ball now and the opposition know that so press us hard. His long kicking needs some work as that as to be an option sometimes and his command of his area from crosses has been poor the last 2 games. We have conceded too many goals from corners this season.

His shot stopping has been excellent though.

Ederson is to blame, he’s the fucker in the net. He need his hand holding with how to save a penalty now?

anyway, a real shame that Ederson regressed his way to three golden gloves in a row, a treble and 4 premier league titles in a row.

Guess Xabi is just good at putting the cones out.

I tell you what, as this is clearly going nowhere, we’ll see exactly how good a coach he is if the 6’6 giant world class goalkeeper we have can catch a cross by the end of the season or if no one’s bothered to address the glaring weakness in his game.

Literally none of that is remotely true.
I remember Hart repeatedly fucking up in the CL. Parrying crosses into the on-brushing strikers. There was Madrid too where we threw the game away in the dying minutes.

Happened a lot. He was great for us, but let's not forget the errors too

I’m not overly bothered about his supposed glaring weakness. I’ve watched him for a decade and he’s always been the same at crosses.
He’s the best keeper at the club, he’s one of the best in the world and overall since he signed he’s been quality.
But then I don’t spend my nights feeling sorry for poor James who was promised to be number one. Boo fucking hoo.

He’s not the one getting skinned by wingers. He’s not the one being brushed off the ball or giving the ball away through sloppiness

I don’t have a problem with his performance.

What I have a problem with is our wet team who get overrun by Fulham. I’m not having that we were under pressure for 30 odd minutes non stop because of Donnarumma’s kicking
Exactly.

Also, if your keeper isn't that good at dealing with a high press under pressure, as a defender you're bad at your job if you're putting him in that position. The ball retention is awful at the moment and having 2023 Ederson in goal isn't fixing that.

Yesterday was the first game where I've really thought Ederson would have improved things. It doesn't mean I want to go back, but wait would have helped when we were struggling to keep the ball.

Was a bit disappointed Donnarumma didn't come and claim a deep cross just before Gvardiol cleared off the line too.

A keeper dealing with a cross in a packed penalty box should be a last resort, and firstly we should be better setup to deal with the cross with the 10 other lads that are in the box with him

We just simply don't attack the ball physically enough, you can see that with the way that Dias and Gvardiol are often dominated by any striker that wants to give them a physical battle, and if they aren't up to it physically, then what chance have the rest of the team got

There's only Haaland that defends the box from corners, its very rare that you see any of Dias, Gvardiol, Nico, Reijnders etc winning those headers, who are all comfortably ~6"2

So apparently Donnarumma has the third worst shot save percentage in the premier league this season so far…

Make of that what you will. Hopefully it gets better.

Absolutely baffling how so many big fuckers are back and the only one who deals with headers is the striker. Even more baffling how Erling is mint in the air defending but a bit shit on the other end!
