Can't believe it was 25 years ago today to the day since we lost 5-0 at Highbury to Arsenal it what was probably the longest ever away day, remember being woken up at 2am to news my neighbour had set his flat on fire smoking in bed, set off on the drive to Arsenal just after 8am feeling optimistic considering we had won our last 2 games at home to Bradford followed by a Monday night win at the Dell over Southampton, was in the away section behind the goal as we used to get a small section behind the goal and on the side and felt we were holding our own for first half hour until Tiatto was sent off, think Arsenal scored straight after and then floodgates opened resulting in us being spanked 5-0 if I do recall Nicky Weaver got MOTM in the following days papers which tells you how bad it could have got, left Highbury and probably 100 yards later the heavens absolutely opened and by the time got back to car was absolutely drenched, sets off back along North Circular and onto M1 and probably got as far as Luton before it all came to a standstill and think it was just after 8pm when we finally got moving , got back to Middleton at 11:30pm shit day all round

I went to this one. Remember Charvet making his debut and Arsenal adding a fifth just as we were leaving the ground.

Remember us all singing 1 2, 1 2 3, 1 2 3 4, 5 1!!!! Walking to the ground only for the arse fans to be singing the same to us but 5 0 after the match.

Typical City.

EDIT I'm on a totally different pasting there..... Typical B4Moon ;)

That was bad, so too was walking back to the car, through torrential rain after being beaten by Wigan in the cup final.

Awful after that first half hour and another stupid Tiatto sending off. We had no chance after that and I remember getting absolutely soaked waiting for the tube. One of the worst away days ever, along with Derby 6 City 0 but there's plenty more where that came from.

5-0 in to start a 6 loses in a row run and then 5-0 win.

I remember a Sheff Weds player talking about their relegation the year before on the morning of the Arsenal game, I think it was Andy Booth. He said they lost 5 in a row and never recovered. and looked at the fixtures and wondered if that would happen to us, we had teams like Leicester and Ipswitch at home, but the Foxes went top playing us and Ipswich were top CL contenders and finished 5th.
