I was interested to see if he’d ever scored a goal on the volley/half volley, from a rebound or cross, so I pulled up his goals compilation on YouTube. The answer… once. What’s interesting is; it’s the one time he hit it with control and with his instep.

I’ve lost count of the number of times he comes onto a shot, leaning back, laces across it, lashes at it and it spoons over the bar. If you can’t do it, just don’t do it ffs.

The difference is Doku has a great mentality, is willing to put the work in to improve his game and he's strong and scrappy enough to deal with the physical treatment a skillful winger gets in this League. Attributes Savinho does not have.

They say you should always wait until a player has had a full season before judging how good/bad he is. Well that is now 38 games for him, equivalent to a full season and he has 1 goal - yes he has 9 assists in total but from a player that represents a third of your attack to have just a single goal to his name is truly poor. Add to that a very arrogant attitude when he loses possession - ie trying to blame others and not busting a gut to get back and we now have the answer.

I can see Pep playing him more if anything due to age and his new contract but for me I've seen enough and he isn't good enough to tie the laces of the many wide players we've enjoyed over the last decade.
