He's got so much talent but at this level that's only part of it. He can improve a lot from a tactical stand point.

Could learn a thing or two from Zinny ;)

did good but was less influential because he did not get the ball with time and space as he usually would. but that's not his mistake as we did not have enough midfielders with our injuries to pin them back

He needs to improve tactically.. constantly gambling and leaving his side open to exploit.

Last year, Cancelo had his amazing 6 week run, and then there was a game (Spurs IIRC) where he just seemed to get overconfident, stopped doing the defensive work and the attacking output dropped. It didn't cost us anything at first, but it was noticeable. Pep even said in a press conference he needs to keep his focus and not get carried away.

It didn't work, his performances went downhill for a month before he lost his place.

This game reminded me of that one. Very lazy defensively, cost us the goal, positionally AWOL, and seemed to be trying too hard to deliver the hollywood pass or shoot when it wasn't on.

Hopefully this season someone steers him back onto the right track.

Seems to me he's played a little too much. A week or two on the bench might do him wonders.

He didn't play in the Euros, had a full off-season's worth of rest, and started this season extremely strongly. Not suggesting he's dropped for an entire month or two, just some rest might be good for him.

It’s comical this thread. He has been sensational for weeks - a right back who is currently the best left back in the Prem. Today was decent enough, granted not as good as he has been but he’s not even allowed an average game with some. Sure enough, certain individuals who haven’t been seen on this thread for weeks are back again.

For 30 minutes he defended really well and then the errors crept in.

Can't always have a perfect game, and he should hopefully be rested midweek and be back on it next weekend.
