I honestly believe this is the set up we should try till the end of the season, and i would from now on line up like this :

Hart

Zabaleta Kompany Nastasic

Milner Yaya Toure Barry Clichy/Kolarov

Silva

Tevez/Dzeko Aguero

Now, it might sound a little strange, but to get the best out of David Silva we need to play him in a central position, Milner has the energy to Bomb up and down the right, and he should play every game over Nasri, Also this formation gives us more space in the middle of the park the likes of which with Discipline Yaya can exploit,

Im only saying this as an option due to the fact that every time we play this stupid 4-4-2 with nasri and silva wide we have absolutely no width in our team whatsoever.

I also think Kompany Zaba and Nasty are all good enough on the ball to play this way, of course against weaker teams the likes of Maicon can be drafted into the side.

thoughts?

No Barry ..........

3-5-2

Komps Nastastic Lescott

Zab Milner YAYA Silva Clichy

Aguero Dzeko/Tev

Agree about Barry. You can have one slow player in this formation but he has to be able to offer passes Barry doesn't even know. And I think you're right with Zabaleta too but City don't have anyone to play as a LWB and be effective. Kolarov is slow and I don't understand why people here think Clichy is a great fullback. When I see guys like Alba, Alaba, Adriano, Marcelo... Clichy has no end product. Also if you'd want to use 3-5-2 instead of 3-4-1-2 you'd need Tevez on the pitch.

I thought it was cool when he tried it at the start of the season, but we're now a club wherein there's no time for experimentation. Maybe now the title's gone, we've got a bit of room to try it properly.

It's got width, solidity and just lets the front three buzz about and interchange. Silva, Tevez and Aguero could be our Hamsik/Cavani/Lavezzi.

Sure that's a great team.

what ever formation we play garcia and kolorov should not be in the starting 11..ever!

they are the two i would get rid of first this summer along with the likes of RSC and a couple of others out on loan

Whats wrong with the 4-2-3-1 that won the title?

Zabaleta
Kompany
Nastasic
Clichy

Toure
Milner

Nasri
Aguero
Silva

Dzeko

Put Aguero behind Dzeko and have Nasri/Silva play in from the wings.

problem is our play then becomes so narrow and we dont have any width whatsoever. hence why we are struggling to break teams down away from home.

Considering we're pretty much out of title race maybe it is not a bad shout to try different tactics. Should secure Cl completely first completely though.

If we want to try something different...

Maicon--Kompany--Nastasic--Zabaleta
Milner--Yaya--Suarez
Silva--Dzeko--Aguero

-- Sun Feb 10, 2013 8:26 pm --

To be honest I hate Aguero behind Dzeko. Kun should be used wide or up front.
