I once attended three matches in a single day back in the late 1950's or 1960's.
The first match was a morning KO at Preston North End v MCFC. The 2nd and 3rd games were at Burnden Park and Old Trafford not necessarily in that order!
I would like help from anybody who knows what the actual date was? Why did I do it? Simply because it is rare to be able to see three games in a single day (I believe it was a Good Friday) and it just had to be done! It was in the good old days of turn up and pay at the gate!

Apologies subject title should read....... '3 Games in One Day'

Re: Can any

It's probably one of these two games, as they were the only two played away at Preston around that time that would've fallen close to Easter:

Mon 03/04/61 Bolton played Aston Villa at home (Easter Monday)
Sat 28/03/64 Bolton played Aston Villa at home (Holy Saturday (day before Easter)).

So would it be the 1961 date? Suggesting this because Saturday games tended to be 3pm K.O's. None of the sites give the K.O. time.
The 1964 game was Bert Trautmann's last game for City according to MCFCSTATS. Shirley you would remember if it was this game.

Thanks Ric & Carver.... Looks like I've got to go back to the drawing board.... I can't seem to come up with the 3rd game that I saw on the day so I've obviously got some serious thinking to do!
I'll post when I solve it

Wow........Many thanks for this information.... And solving my conundrum...
I started my day at Deepdale at 11am watching Preston North End against MCFC..... By 3pm I was at Old Trafford watching MUFC v Blackpool and finally at Burnden Park to see Bolton Wanderers v Aston Villa.
The things you could do on a whim ..... when you could pay at the gate!

On Boxing Day 1991 (IIRC) went to Springfield Park for Wigan 12 noon kick off then drove to Maine Road for 3 pm kick off - City v Norwich, got in the Kippax and we were 1-0 down to a Newman goal, ended up winning 2-1,think McMahon scored for us.
