31 | Ederson - 2021/22 Performances

These keepers that face 15 shots a game, make some top saves but get beat 4-0 get all the credit. It’s what the likes of Pickford, DDG etc have a made a career off.

Today was what being a top keeper is all about. Have fuck all to do and make that one big save. Love him.

Indeed. It’s one reason why I think it’s important to highlight and praise him on here so as to redress the balance.

Also maybe showed a change in technique?

The twitter goalkeeper PHD guy has always said Ederson's technique of coming half way out then pausing causes him to concede 1v1s more than he should. He just flew out non stop and Lukaku never had a chance to think or get it past him.

Quite possibly. He was remarkably far out in the circumstance.
 
Let’s have it right, when he’s been criticised this/last season…it’s been genuine and not nitpicking.

Saved our arses yesterday, though, and has done a fair few times this season. Love the bloke.

Disagree.

He's been rightly criticised on the odd occasion for not doing well enough for a handful of specific goals.

Then there's been a load of bollocks about save percentages, penalties and about how he's generally a shite shot stopper who doesn't make saves.

The criticism on here is never wholly justified because there are a lot of people who run their mouths every day who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.
 
Great save Eddie .....and all the critics say he doesn’t make them
That’s why he is the best in the league great distribution fantastic at crosses and dominating his box and makes saves when redundant all game
Yes he makes the odd error who doesn’t but he has the personality and self belief to come back and take responsibility
 
Feel a bit sorry for Eddie, he is never likely to be Mom as the combination of % possession and good defence means he doesn't get much chance of shining.
