I think a high number of City fans probably acknowledge that he isn't the best shot stopper in the league. But that he is fantastic with the ball at his feet. The question is, what do you want your 'keeper to be good at; pinging out long range passes, or saving goals?
Seeing that we have only conceded 24 goals this season there seems not to be too much wrong with his shot stopping. Hart had his faults too but didn't do too badly either.

Neither goal is on him. Good attacking play didn't give him a chance with either goal. The only error today was the mix up with laporte. No idea why he came out for that though, laporte was in control and looking for a simple back pass, laporte did exceptionally well to take control and get rid. With the amount of times he comes out, mistakes are inevitable, Alisson makes at least half a dozen mistakes coming out of his box a season for comparison, that was one from ederson and thankfully it didn't cost us.

These "he needs competition" claims are bollocks, no top keeper in the world has any real competition other than at PSG. Alisson and Mendy's competition at our two closest domestic rivals can't even get a game in the cups nevermind put them under pressure in the league, neither are looking over their shoulder.

Simple fact is he cannot be perfect all the time and losing your shit everytime there's anything less than perfection is about as rag-like as it gets. He made a mistake today that thanks to laporte didn't cost us, but he makes the least amount of mistakes of any keeper and is the only keeper in the world capable of doing what Pep needs to allow us to play the way we do.

The issue with Eddie is that he fails to stop many chances which a decent keeper should save, but are not necessarily classed as howlers. Bowen’s second goal for example was a save he should be making but ended up in the back of the net.

IMO, this season has shown that Eddie is a keeper that won’t really cost us many points whereas Allison is a keeper who will actively save his side points.
Allison let a very soft goal in last week against Villa and he nearly made another fuck up just after it. I often think he lets in goals that he should have saved, but that goes for all keepers. Bowens shot went through Ferns legs, it was a good finish, I think it’s harsh to say he should have saved it.

He also makes crucial saves at big moments to keep Liverpool in the game. I’ve lost count of the amount of times he’s pulled off a great save and then Mane, Salah or Jota go up the other end and score.

Something has just crept into Eddie’s game over the past few months which is a bit Bravoesque. It’s rare that he bails out our defence which should be expected from a top class goalkeeper.

What about Ederson's save last week? That gave us a clean sheet and has helped with our goal difference. Alisson wasn't too clever last season and has had a few howlers along the way. Be very careful for what you wish for.

He’s not good keeper. Just admite it, he can’t save anything. That’s incredible.

A bad keeper doesn't win the Golden Gloves award two seasons on the trot.

And to say Ederson has been poor he's level with Alisson with 20 clean sheets, and Alisson has another game midweek he could quite easily concede in. If that happens then Eddie will probably pick up the award for the third season on the trot, not bad for a "shit keeper"! Eh?

Those of you say Eddie isn't a good shot stopper, well ok, he isn't the best. De Gea(8) and Kasper Schmeichel(7) are both better shot stoppers but they have only kept 15 clean sheets in PL games between them.

Ederson has his faults but don't let his recent howlers cloud your minds. He's saved us from lots of goals many times since he's been here, and set up many attacks, let's not forget that.

And most who say they want him out don't name a keeper who will be a better fit for us.

Nick Pope? Lol.
