So, are you saying in the whole of the world there is no other keeper whose distribution is the same or at least similar? The way Pep plays we are clearly never going to play with an old fashioned “feet are for standing on” keeper but if there were keepers out there who were slightly worse with their feet but much better at positioning and saving that would surely be something worth “trading up for” (from the few games Ortega has played he seems a good example)
It really wouldn’t. If you can’t see how crucial Ederson is to our build up play & beating the press, I really don’t know what to say to you

I think Ederson fans don't watch any other keeper, but the average GK is much better with his feet now than 5 years ago. Any GK developed on Germany or England in the last 5 years is like Ortega with his feet, and when Ortega plays our style is exactly the same.

By the way, watching Barca United, and Ter Stegen just made a save that Ederson would not make in his dreams. Ter Stegen does that every 3-4 matches. Ederson? Never in his life.

And for people who gives tons of credit to Ederson for golden gloves, any GK under Guardiola has won the award several times. Ederson is by far inferior to Neuer, and is also inferior to Valdes (which wasn't a top 5 GK either).

. This is Ortega highlights, and I invite anyone who thinks Ederson is elite to show me when he makes saves like that. Ederson athleticism is really poor (except his strength which is the best). His jumping, reflexes, speed, lightness of feet, making yourself bigger in 1v1, flexibility, and extension of the body are all poor. And we are talking about Ortega who is not an elite GK!!

The last three goals he conceded:
  • Harry Kane gifted the ball six yards out, with the whole goal to aim at, by laughably shit defending.
  • Ollie Watkins allowed to run clean through, with the whole goal to aim at, by laughably shit defending
  • The team who were top of the league gifted a penalty at home by laughably shit refereeing
Yet the crazies on here reckon he should have saved all of them.
Six titles in his last seven years with City and Benfica, yet he is shit according to the lynch mob. Clowns
They just don't understand how we play, and how integral Ederson is. It's difficult to take anyone seriously who thinks Ederson should be replaced by Pope or Pickford, our style of play would collapse with either of those in goal.

There is truth in what you say and the defence have been at fault. That doesn’t absolve Eddie of responsibility though. His positioning was poor for the AV goal and as I’ve said previously, if you stand with your legs 4 feet apart it basically roots you to the spot which is why his attempt at saving Watkins shot was so poor. If he had stayed on his line he would have had a simple save, if he had balanced on the balls of his feet he would have saved it.

Yesterday, he had a choice to make when The lad was played through. Stay big at the near post and trust yourself making a save from a shot from a very tight angle or go and claim the ball. He made the wrong choice.
Whilst I thought the penalty was harsh, he gave Taylor a decision to make. His distribution was back to his best yesterday but I do think he makes errors of judgement, positioning and technique that I thought would be coached out of him by now.

That’s not clownish or crazy. It’s just an opinion.

I think you make a good point about other keepers being better with their feet than previously. There are a lot of keepers who are very good at it, too. But I've seen enough keepers who are good with their feet to know they aren't Ederson.

Ederson is probably the single best on the planet for that stuff. I'd argue he's more precise than Neuer and more composed than ter Stegen.

Ortega is very impressive with his feet, no doubt. And you're right in that our style doesn't change much with him in.

But he's still worse on that front than Ederson. And that small difference is significant.

It's like the difference between De Bruyne and Fernandes as playmakers. They're both very good, but one is possibly the best in the world at it and the other is just very good.

I'm not debating the non-footwork stuff btw. Not that I agree or disagree. Just that I'm making an argument that Ederson's passing ability and composure is significantly better than some appreciate.

Ederson is not going anywhere as long we play this system that Pep using and i suspect he will stay long after Pep left the team.

The next manager will more likely have same philosophy like Pep and will retain Ederson if he still good enough in his distribution.

he should have gone there where he showed at the pen. or not show anything just save it.

teams probably have their best ever pen conversion rate against City. they hardly ever miss a pen against us.
and also the fact how many we concede generally from on target shots made against us in general. a fucking lot.

there needs to be more practice going into saving pens. we might have a pen shoutout in CL soon, we need to actively work on it to win it.

fair enough Ederson often finds himself in real shit situtions given the way we play with high line, and bit of a gung ho approach and often ending up in 1 v 1 with strikers, but we need to reduce the number of goals as we dont allow many on target shots to opponents.

xG from pen is around 78% or so, against City it feels like 98%.
And as he bent his other leg to propel his dive, Saka would likely have spotted that and just gone the other way.
