Possibly the poorest GK in the PL. Worst shot stopper stats-wise plus an abysmal penalty saving record. Personally, I think it is unbelievable that this guy is still our number 1 when his form has been on the slide for the last couple of seasons.
I total agree with you.

And the idea that he is the best for Pep’s game is ridiculous. Do you think that it is impossible to find a good shot stopper who can pass the ball to his defenders? Is it really difficult to receive a pass from walker and repass it to Ake or Diaz? Do you prefer a goalkeeper who can take the team on his shoulder and save the day or someone who can pass the ball?

We've got one who the does lot pretty well sat on the bench.

In crucial games in the Champions league where the games are tight, a good goalkeeper and proven goalscorer are the difference . We have the best striker now, but our Goalkeeper is average in terms of shot-stopping.

Cannot save if his life depends on it. When life is going well and we're winning, coasting through games it's fine, but when times are tough and we need crucial, crucial saves in UCL matches and PL games he falls short unfortunately. He's exceptional in distribution and playing out from the back but when the time comes to actually saving...

Imagine if we had a well-rounded keeper like Alisson who himself is decent playing out from the back but is also so reliable in goal.
Lol

For sure, most given time and space could receive the ball and pass it out.

Eddie is fantastic under pressure doing that, that's the difference.

He is, which is why he's our number 1 keeper. Doesn't mean he's a good goalkeeper though. It's like we're back in the playground at times, playing with flying keepers. None of them could stop an actual shot either :/

Teams don't press eddy any more after he tore them apart. Any other keeper would get pressed the fuck out of and make mistakes. Pretty sure Ortega had one of these recently...

I agree. He has weaknesses, but was responding to the poster suggesting playing the ball out could be done by any keeper

alisson reliable, he makes 10 fuck ups a season, here's a couple in 1 game you should remember

for some reason his thread always comes up after a bad result, his fault or not, now if its his fault because one shot one goal , then its his fault hes won 3 golden gloves in a row , or is that because of the defense now ?
With all respect but golden gloves is about clean sheet only. They don't take any other factors into consideration. The way City played will help any keeper to get more clean sheet. Take Joe Hart as an example, he got it 4 times.

well maybe the way city play we aren't helping edi get clean sheets,

would you put yesterday's goal down to edi ?

if yes ,you are wrong
if no , then why after a bad result are you scapegoating edi ?

First, it is not only about the last game, it happened many times and his shot stopping percentage is poor. Second, are you saying, he couldn't do better at least to be in a better position or situation to have a chance to stop the goal? If you say yes, you are wrong

ball was on our left , where should he of been ,remember he can only take up one position at a time, and he cant see into the future

You've obviously got a problem with edi , but the 1 shot 1 goal has more to do with our collective defending rather than trying to pin it on edi,why people need a scapegoat i have no idea

Goalkeepers win awards for conceding the least goals. Defenders don't get any even though they probably did a lot more to keep the numbers down.

Any keeper with a shot to save ratio as poor as Ederson's would be called into question. He's simply not a good shot stopper.

In my opinion, Ederson is extremely lucky to play for City. If he was at a club where the coach was anyone other than Pep Guardiola, he'd probably be on the bench every week.
