Zinchenko comes to mind, but considering Pep has kept him around this season, I think he will be an exception, not the rule. I think he will follow the Zinchenko route, not the sell-on profit one.
 
I follow some of the data-based scouting accounts on twitter and most were a bit nonplussed at why we signed him, his underlying stats didn't really show anything special.

It doesn't mean he can't be an exception or can't come good, but it tempered my expectations a bit. Think he needs to play games this year, wherever that is I've no idea.

I just don't see him making it here from what I've seen of him for Argentina.

Seems a bit too static for me. Everything he does is too safe. Nothing extraordinary about him.

Think he's off to Girona and then he won't be coming back. More likely sold.

We have 3 DM's on the roster.. Rodri, Kalvin and him.

The only reason the Rice transfer hasn't happened is probably because City really rate this kid internally, and don't want to block his progress.

He may get a McAtee development loan but I don't think he's gonna be sold.. not when Benefica wanted him to replace Enzo Fernandez and play him everyday.

Benefica are not idiots.. they really know how to spot and develop talent!
 
He's not really a DM though.

I suspect he is of the Kovacic/Lewis mold.

The controlling attacking midfielder playing behind the striker and more dynamic midfielder (KdB, Foden, McAtee, Bobb) but ahead of the true DM (Rodri, Philips) and Hybrid CB (Stones, Rodri).
 
My personal opinion is he was signed as emergency cover in January as we had low midfield numbers and an injury would have left us effed. Once we have restocked the midfield this summer, I think he will be loaned out and then sold and this was probably always the intention.
 
I like the look of him and wish him well for the season ahead, hopefully playing for us.

I just don’t think that’s true about Rice, he’s a London boy and Arteta is doing great work with young players
