...and some of our fans are carrying on as if there is a massive crisis at the club. We are still in 2 cup competitions as well, come back when we have something to worry about is all I can say.
Slagging Roberto Mancini is just unforgivable for me, he is without doubt the best manager we've had for donkeys years, a very very classy super cool guy, we are lucky to have him, to me someone like Jose Mourinho has no loyalty to the clubs he serves, he would pick us up and drop us just the same, like a two bit hooker, Mancini is, like the owners, someone for the long haul.
It was never going to be easy, making Manchester City big again, we have been in the doldrums in mediocrity for decades so come on be realistic man!

i agree with you and am very happy to be in the position we are in right now as a team, and concerning the potential of what we can be.

i think what people are panicing about though is how crucial champions league footy is to our plans. it is huge for us as far as meeting ffpr requirements, recruiting new talent, and most importantly, keeping current talent. i think a lot of people on ehre wouldnt hate a 5th place finish, as we have been following city for a long time. the players are a different issue.

As many people have pointed out this is a forum and the idea of a forum is for people to debate their views. As with many issues in life people have differing expectations. For instance no one can prove that under Mark Hughes ( or Sven or Stuart Pearce or even Frank Clarke ) that we would not be higher in the League. It's a matter of opinion and cannot be proved. 3rd is quite good if you expected 6th. 3rd is quite bad if you expected 1st. Some people would claim that expecting 1st is unrealistic others would claim that having spent £300m plus that now worrying whether we make the CL is laughable. At the start of the year I would have taken 3rd but in a year with no outstanding side I changed my mind and thought we could win the title. So all in all, at this moment I'm a little disappointed.

Palerider i know where you are coming from, but it is going to take a bit longer for us to become a consistent force in the Prem, Sir Alex has been there since 1986, he has created a dynasty at Old Trafford, City are ahead in my opinion, we have to be objective and view our progress from the outside in, we are getting there, we are not a cohesive unit yet, this team has been literally thrown together in the space of a couple of years, we have not got what United have got yet, we will just have to be patient and not expect it "on a plate" life don't work like that.

Bluecat, I agree with the progress has been made sentiment. We are more solid and consistent than last year and perhaps with a bit more luck would be second. We also still have good chances in TWO cups so I'm not moaning more cajoling us to lift our ambitions. None of the United fans I speak to think they should be top. There was an opportunity for us to early achieve and we have not taken it! The reason most people give for not being disappointed is that 4th is acceptable. It's a mindset issue for me not patience. We will get better but that does not mean we cannot win things now.

It's not enough for some people, there's always something wrong.

Have the opportunity to go top at Christmas - i would of took in August.

Malg, yep, Spurs are right on our heels, we can not afford to be beaten at home again by them!
