40 goals a season striker - Are there any?

our strikers performance yesterday was the very least thing that cost us that game.

Agreed, but in most of the games we have lost this season they have been just as culpable as the defenders who get the abuse.

I have documented at length, in other threads, that in most of the games we have lost this season have come when both Mahrez and Raz start. as of 11 days ago when I worked out the stats and including the FA Cup loss our record with them is a shit 8-6-1 with Sergio and Gabby only getting 7 goals between them in 15 games. 17 dropped PL points out of 42 and this FA Cup loss. Our strikers get little and shitty service because of their selfishness, they never look to feed the striker through in motion when the other team is on their heels, they take the ball slow it down then try and go it alone, by this time the whole defensive shape is set up, then when they are forced to pass it's from a bad position to a covered striker and most of those are blocked. When one or the other plays our goals are more fluid and our goals per game is higher.

Higuain and Morata as well (although they do tend to go missing and would be a stop gap at best)

I think that’s a great point and it was very visible yesterday. Gab will get a lot of shit for a bad game, but for a team that scores and creates so much, actually as a CF playing for city you don’t see the vast majority of those. Gab was a ghost yesterday, but he had nothing really but scraps to go at. When I said our strikers are as culpable, I really meant our attacking players.

It's not about fitness it's about game time. A fully fit Aguero still gets rotated.

I know many would disagree but if we started Jesus 35 league games a season he'd rack them up too.

The only way we're getting a 40 goal a season striker is if either Sterling or Jesus become super clinical or we sign a 27 year old Messi.

yes, and coupled with yesterday that Kev for most of it and David had very poor passing days, how narrow we were, the time they had to defend and clog the middle, no striker was going to get the service or chances that some are dreaming about.
