I think this is a really valid POV, but even looking at it exclusively as a City fan I don't mind too much.As a City fan first, I'm annoyed that Foden hasn't played more. I really hoped this would be the tournament that announces him to the rest of Europe.
100% I'd prefer him to be playing, and I think he's got what it takes, but as far as Foden announcing himself I'm not worried.
The CL knockout games did a lot to elevate Foden's presence for starters. Secondly, although it'd be cool to see him make a statement, it's not like it won't happen eventually. There's a good chance this season that he'll have a game against someone high profile where he single-handedly annihilates them. If not this season, the next. He's just that talented.
It's like when he wasn't getting games for City and people were getting upset about his future development. Relaaax. The cream always rises. Patience is a virtue, ESPECIALLY with Foden.
He could still play again anyway. Southgate's made a few sudden changes already, he might make another
At least he's had the chance to play too, and he got to start the first match. Compared to Rashford, who's gone from joint 1st choice winger to 5th choice winger and 3rd choice striker in only a year. He's yesterday's news already and he's only 23.
