This is Gazza bossing AC Milan . The best team in the world at the time . His ability to find space and game intelligence was incredible . I am sorry . Phil Foden is no where near this level. He has a long way to go.
Gazza was about 5 years older than Phil then so a bit of a stupid comparison, there’s probably a Gazza thread on here if you want to talk about btw.

People say he flopped with Lazio . But when he played he tore the serie a defenses apart.
He was amazing.
If he hadnt been stupid and buggered his knee hed have been the best in the world

Really what about the young talent coming up . Fati, Pedri etc.

Gascoigne failed to win a Ballon Dor . What makes you so certain Phil will.

I've had this argument on here before but Gascgoine never played for a top club and barely ever played in the Champions League. Of course he never won the Ballon d'Or. Foden doesn't have those (absolutely massive) factors counting against him.

Why this thread is turned into Gazza thread?

Because certain people [coughradioheadcough] are fucking obsessed with him despite the fact that his career was staggeringly mediocre.

Look, people can drone on about "more natural talent" all they want. I don't personally see this supposed gulf in class between Rangers cult hero Paul Gascoigne and Manchester City regular Phil Foden but whatever.

The thing is that even if Foden was nowhere near as "naturally talented" as Gascoigne, which is an arbitrary statement anyway, Foden has evidently got far more strings to his bow and there's really no good reason to act like he couldn't surpass Gascoigne and win the Ballon d'Or.

Haha! The crank is still here!! Amazing stuff. Blatant trolling of the board whilst lying about supporting City and refusing to acknowledge he's an opposition fan (which isnt against the rules, most opposition fans are welcome)
The forum must really be fucking desperate for new members.

And this is Gazza getting absolutely smashed by AC Milan in the same season. I'm sorry but Gazza was nowhere near the level of Foden for his age.

He has never really played in midfield .He is ahead of the ball most of the time . He has never played as a midfielder
like Modric or Jorjinho .
well he did during many parts of the game especially when the opponent engaged us in the midfield. the reson he could be found further up the field is because the opposition surrenders the ball and goes into bus parking mode. go back and watch a couple of seasons back.

Yes the mods are ignoring this lying joker

Don't forget his massive PR team.

At the end of the day, winning trophies and playing for top clubs in the Champions League will get you Ballon d'Or nominations, and "natural talent" alone won't. I know it's a City forum so we're supposed to pretend that every ex-United player was secretly an awful footballer who only had a career through luck and bribery but in reality we're comparing a guy whose domestic career peaked at Rangers to a guy who played for PSG, United and Real Madrid.

Not saying Beckham was sh*t, but he certainly was somewhat over hyped. There were easily 20 midfielders of his era across world football who were better than he was. He wasn't even the best midfielder at the Rag's.

Gascoigne was talented when he could be arsed, but his destructive character let him down.

Phil is 21 and still developing. If he reaches his potential (and there is no reason why he shouldn't) then he's in with a good shout of a Ballon D'or.

Glenn Hoddle stating Phil Foden will be the best player in the world in two/three seasons , and i think he is right , and the beauty of it all is no matter how well he progresses we know he will never have his head turned by a cockroach agent to sign for another club.
Phil Foden bleeds blue blood and avoiding injuries etc.,and one day will be considered nearly as good as Colin Bell :)
