I agree with this but the problem we've got is that there are big games coming thick and fast now so playing him into form is going to be a risk.

I kind agree with that, but I wouldn’t see it as a risk. I think he’s too good not to play or leave out consistently. A lot of city fans including me want to see him in the team as we know how good he can be.

I want to see him running at players and being creative again. The entire team was Poor first half, which didn’t help Phil either

Yeah, I get that. Personally, I would have started him on the bench and given him the full ninety on Sunday but I can understand why he started tonight.

Pep has got it right at the moment Grealish is more effective , we all know how good Phil can be but he isnt doing it at the moment , his play is so negative , he played against 40 year old Milner and didnt take him on once and now played 40 year old Azpilcuelta and took him on once and won a free kick after an hour.
He needs to wake up , he is playing for his place and hes doesnt deserve it right now.

Hope his dip in form doesn't have anything to do with that big contract he signed. Trust pep to sort him out.

The only time he decided to run at grandpa Azpilicueta he beat him and forced the foul which should've been a booking, apart from that he spent the entire game passing it backwards, I don't know if he was just following instructions or he simply doesn't have the confidence at the moment, hopefully this is just a bad stretch and he will regain his form because we need him at his best in this tough season.

His game has become very safe, and a bit stagnant, he has wonderful technique and good pace, needs to start running at defenders much more. Only went at the fb once properly tonight, almost got in behind and won a free kick.

Part of me wonders if he's trying to do what he thinks Pep wants. It doesn't justify him getting the basics wrong in performances like tonight but keeping things safe and simple for the sake of controlling possession is something which gets others in the team praise. The problem is that doing that nullifies pretty much all of his qualities on the ball.

It's kind of hard to say, but I don't necessarily think its as simple as "Just play him in midfield or right wing".

He is making basic mistakes, and I think it's more of a mental issue than position. I still WANT him to play in midfield, but I don't believe this magically changes things for him.

I've been thinking the same mate, it's been the exact same with Jack at times, recycling possession seems to be the mantra for them both, for whatever reason. Although Jack seems to be taking the more direct approach recently, which is good to see.
