Phil was playing very well earlier in the year. I think we need him to get back on track. He provides an energy we don't get from other places

We'd be a million miles better having Jack as one of the attacking midfielders and Phil wide left. I know people like to think Phil's better in the middle but he's not...yet. His movement on and off the ball makes him most effective on the left. Jack wants the ball to feet, whereas Phil looks to run in behind and it keeps the defender on their toes. With Jack more central, he'd play Phil in, or he'd use Phil as a decoy and carry the ball. He'd look for Haaland's run in behind as well. I'd love to see that combination at some point. It's too ponderous having Bernie or Gundo in there at the moment.

I actually think Foden is better from the right where he can cut in.

I don't disagree, but for all his bad form, he is on for his best season in terms of goal contributions and that's been from the left. Factor in Mahrez' form from the right and I would keep him left side for now...but it seems we wont see him for a while anyway!

Last time on the right he scored 3 against the rags. Never played there since. Another of the strange mysteries of our season!

He's the most dynamic front foot player we have. Has end product too. We are desperate for him to find some form and get regular games
He also has the best first touch of just about anyone in the league. That is a very underrated part of his game, and a big reason why he's so effective.

It's certainly a crucial 12 months for him, and I have to say the signs look worrying, the Iceland incident was a huge red flag,
He did nothing in Iceland that nearly every footballer in the Premier League doesn’t do on a monthly basis.

Spot on. This is nothing more than a Winter rut.

Foden still has the third most goals and assists of all our players and he’s barely played since the Brentford game in November.

So ? He was fucking stupid , just because others do it doesnt excuse his behaviour
They all do it. Their wives accept their behaviour as normal in the football world, never mind excuse it. They live in a different world to us.

They really don't all do it.

They're in the public eye in an all-seeing Internet world that waits to pounce on any indiscretion to feed a celebrity hungry audience.

It's not the 1970s anymore. Any top player nowadays would have to be a really special kind of stupid to think they could keep anything even remotely salacious out of the public domain.

Phil Foden and his mate Greenwood are good examples of that special kind of stupid.
