Reckon he might be looking to move on if he can’t crack the team this year. Ability wise he’s streets ahead of Rashford, Saka, Martinelli and the like but they’re not only starting every week but are hugely prominent for their teams. He turns 24 this season and, it seems clear, he’s no nearer to nailing down a starting spot than he’s ever been. Whilst I’d love him to do that he’s far too good to be a ‘supersub’ and he could probably go anywhere he chose.
Its a strange one because, whilst I’d hate him to leave, I genuinely want to see how good he can be and that might only be possible somewhere else.

Personally feel he should focus on playing regularly at RW, after two consecutive injury disrupted seasons.

Whats concerning is he was more creative at 17-20, even his recent performances at CM hasn't convinced me he's ready for that posistion.

He may turn out to be a player that never nails down a permanent posistion and is never an automatic starter and that wouldn't be down to his ability.

Do you not think that’s a bit of an overreaction, unless I’m wrong, but before his uni juries he was starting most games. He’s just not nailed down a set position

Think pep knows his ankle injury is a problem since he did it in the England squad few years back and why he doesn't start every game! Everytime we question pep on anything he has for me been 100% right in what he does for this team..

Wow! Not a chance he looks to move on. I don't understand that logic! He's just won the treble, he played in the CL final and was impressive in a tight game, nearly creating his own goal from nothing with a magic bit of skill and being a constant threat playing off Haaland and indeed recycling the ball well and going back to Akanji which led to the goal. There's an extra maturity in his game which is why we've seen him in the middle more. The keep ball against Real Madrid before the lovely pass through to Alvarez. The quick turn and drive forwards against Arsenal at the weekend which led to Palmer's goal. Still plenty for him to develop, and he'll need to continue to balance his attacking flair and desire with a slower and more controlled tempo but if he avoids injury this season I'd expect him to be involved in the majority of games again. We need someone in the middle who is a goal threat and that man is Phil.

He will win player of the year this year if he stays injury free.

This forum amazes me at times. He's fucking mustard ffs.

There seems to be an element who are bizarrely looking to find fault at every opportunity. An attempt to build up a narrative is gathering momentum from a few oddballs on here and other platforms......he is City through and through and he is one of the best talents in world football, thats no exaggeration.

He is pivotal to this team, and this season, wherever Pep chooses to play him (for the greater good),he will be a major part of any success.

When you say 'extra maturity' i think it's a size thing. Being a skinny little winger there's no need for bulk or strength.
Now he's 'matured' he's got more beef and can play in the middle where Pep wants him to be without getting brushed off the ball.
