He's absolutely one of the best in the Premier League right now.. Must be frightening for other teams seeing him improve week after week. He'll cause a lot of problems for Liverpool this weekend.

I wanted the hoopla of the game and result to die down before commenting on him in this thread.

Everything we prayed for him to become, he is becoming. He is deciding games on his own; no more a mere cog in the engine, but imposing himself on the contest when and where he feels, to devastating effect.

We'll look back on this season in the future and point to it as the one where the boy became the man, and the side became his.

This maybe a big statement to make and untimely, but I see this season as the changing of the guard's start; from the genius of De Bruyne, to the kid from Stockport.

I agree with those saying that Foden can improve further and reach another level.

Stylistically wise, he's closer to the archetype of a great player than any other of our players. The first touch, the poise, the ability in tight spaces, the vision, the versatility....He has everything.

This season Phil Foden has taken it to a new level, where his goals at important times are potentially winning league titles.
That is when you take your game to another level, he is still 23 and there is still so much to come from him, he has become a league winner.
He’s a better footballer than Frank Lampard but Frank Lampard scored goals and won leagues for his club from midfield.
You expect centre-forwards to do it. Haaland, you just expect his numbers, you expect Michael Owen’s numbers when the team is doing well.
But from a midfield point of view, you’ve really got to take the game by the scruff of the neck and say: ‘Right, I’m going to get us back into this game, I’m going to win us leagues, I’m going to win us games.’
I think Frank Lampard was like that and I think Phil Foden is starting to do that, goals-wise.
Phil Foden is a much better footballer than Frank Lampard was, don’t get me wrong, but Frank won leagues for his team because of the contribution he made in midfield, in big games especially.”

IIRC At Foden's age, Lampard was still at West Ham.

Which is just one of the reasons Scholes' take is a bit nonsensical.
