I don't think McAtee is the answer but Bobb, Marmoush, and de Bruyne will hopefully provide enough competition to keep him on his toes with regards to off-the-ball effort

Both Marmoush and Foden struggled in the second striker role, because there was no service in there.

When your midfield is Savinho - Bernie - Kova - Foden, and you look at the midfield you’re playing against, it’s a joke!

Tbf, I thought Bernie was MOTM for us, but that was because he had to be everywhere. Kova did his best, but his best against their midfield is a complete mismatch.

Today, he was asked to play RM/IR against a team that put out a strong midfield. He got lost in there, because he doesn’t put a foot in and isn’t strong enough on the ball. And, make no mistake, we have half a team of those players, as we seem to love them!

Garbage once again. The pass was suicidal, it's just about the most braindead thing I've ever seen him do. It's something I'd expect to see from Walker but that's a mistake you can brush off, it's the total lack of effort he's continuing to show that's pissing me off and should be pissing off Pep.

They had a break when kovacic played a ball into the front line that was picked off, Rice drove forward with it, foden was with him around the halfway line, Foden made half an effort to put on a sprint presumably to bait Rice into turning back out and keeping the ball, as soon as Rice persisting in driving, he just stopped and jogged back and left them with an overload.

As the play went on it ended with Ortega saving with an outstretched arm, probably the first decent thing he did all game. The ball goes out wide, the TV angle pans out a bit, couple of our players had jogged back in, Foden isn't even in shot, he's about 5 yards further than when the TV angle dropped him put of shot in the first place.

It's pathetic, he shouldn't be playing with that kind of lack of effort, we've seen pep drag players off in the past despite showing more effort. When mcatee came on, we saw him sprint from a wide right position to cover left back, that's the effort that he needs to put in, shouldn't be on the pitch if he can't do that, the 30+ year olds potentially have an excuse, foden doesn't.

Yeah we know he's just a goal scorer, would be nice for him to score against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal though and not just Ipswich and Brentford.

Foden had surpassed the stage to be a great talent. Voted POTY he needs to be able to stand up and lead. Yes, lead. But he is far from leading and tbh I don’t like that. I like to say to the lad: Get your shite together, you earn fck loads, so take responsibility and show that you are actually an extraordinary player.

Yes it’s harsh but thus is my opinion.

Given him the benefit of the doubt this season, but he comes off as mentally soft. Got called out for his performance at the Euros and responded by ghosting on the pitch for months. Had a good stretch for a few weeks, but now he's poor again.

No baseline performance we can expect out of him, just constant ups and downs.
