[Scaring Europe to Death]

Surprised there wasn't a thread about it today, to be honest. Doubt I'll get to enjoy another one in my lifetime (I was only three the last time).

England's finest hour, yet the following season witnessed the birth of mass football, hooliganism culminating with the rags trashing Upton Park on the last day.
In fact, just three weeks after the World Cup Final, Maine Road hosted a particularly violent encounter when City beat Liverpool 2-1.

Same age but wasn't coloured TV first broadcast in 67 ? Remembered watching it in colour at the pictures.

I`m certain it came out in early 1966 ram, but I honestly remember watching it in colour as there were about 8 kids in his house along with his Mum & Dad.

Me and my mate went to the pictures three times in a week to watch,was it called "Goal" IIRC ?

You're right, we won't see that again in our lifetime (although I remember thinking that about City winning the league...!)

I remember a few years ago being out with a customer, who had just come back from the South Africa World Cup. This was a bloke I'd known for a good few years, and I had always thought he was maybe 5 or 6 years older than me, so I just happened to mention that it would've been great to have been around when the WC was in England, and it turned out he had been at the final with his Dad as an 11-year old (making him nearly 20 year older than me!!!!!)
