Ruben Dias is unquestionably our defence leader but John Stones is our best defender when he is at his best. He has no weekness and is amazing on the ball. There is no central defender in the world so confortable with the ball. He definitaly has everything. Let's pray he stays fit.

Did you notice his little Tim Henman fist when he blocked that shot? He's loving his defending this season.
 
I always had that feeling even during 17/18 and 18/19 seasons where Laporte was brilliant, that while playing his best football - John was the best defender in the team and maybe in the world. The problem was in consistency and still is - until we are proved wrong during the next years.

Yesterday, he would have been the best defender on the pitch - even if Van Dijk had player there.. That was a quality performance with a lot of courage, creativity, discipline and etc. and etc.
 
I've seen the media continuously suggest that Stones' revival was because he had Dias in the team to babysit him. I've always felt this is incredibly insulting to Stones. He has proven again that Dias is not the reason for his return to form but because he is a fucking class defender.
