50 years ago today. I passed my

I was in N.Wales for a few days away last week and a lot of the built up areas are 20 mph speed limit now.
It's very difficult to drive at that speed for any length of time as it feels like you are crawling along, and traffic soon builds up behind you.
trouble with that is locals will know where bollocks and where real risk is

Yes pal, I have never used any hand signals in the ensuing 50 years, but you had to know them just in case the examiner asked you to demonstrate them.
Hell, there were still cars that had semaphore type signals on them back in the mid 70s, but fortunately I never had pleasure of owning one.

I remember a mate had a who Minor convertible so rotten we climbed over the doors to get in - opening one would have seen it sag with only the propshaft holding it up .......... yes at MOT time it was scrapped but he BOUGHT it with a 12 month MOT - things were a bit different back then eh?

Yes, we visited my wife's friend who lives in Prestatyn, and she knows where all the speed cameras are situated.
The only time she could ever be done for speeding is by a traffic cop in a car,or a mobile speed trap.

always helps though a few years back near here a hairpin descent off the moors called Birk Brow down from 60mph to 40mph amongst the first car caught on camera was two bobbies on their way into work.

No problems - when you get the summons get a friendly traffic officer to survey the road and guess what? There were issues with the road markings and signage so case dropped ..........

I took my mother-in-law for her driving test at Failsworth in the late 1970's. About 25 minutes after they'd driven off the examnier came walking down the street, handed me the car keys and told me he'd stopped the test and my mother-in-law was in the car near Failsworth Pole. I had to walk there and when I got in the car she was in bits and said she was so nervous she almost hit a bus! The examiner had grabbed the wheel and yanked the handbrake on! Fair play to her, she stuck with it and passed her test a couple of years later after five more attempts ( in a driving school car with dual controls) !

Really? Surely you’ve needed at some point to change your direction of travel or do you just wait for a roundabout? Or if you’re a taxi driver just do a U-turn wherever.

;)
Nope.
Never reversed round a corner ever.
Three point turns yes but never that bloody awful driving test manoeuvre.
