Is this a serious response to an alarming statistic in fact truly frightening because if we were all being honest two 5 hammerings wouldn't have been unjust in both games which shows how far off it we are in Europe !

Yes, it's a valid response. The fact is that competition from the likes of United and Stoke on a weekly basis does not prepare us for quality opposition like Real Madrid and Dortmund.

I've followed CL footy for years and no other English team in the CL has been denigrated in the way MCFC's efforts are by assorted journos, hacks, twats and pundits! You can tell from the cadence of their voices and the choice of sentiment that they want Arsenal, CFC and MANUre to get out of the group stages but there seems to be a cartload of glee that we are in the toughest group and that glee will be multiplied tenfold if we fail to progress.

It's very unlikely that City will qualify for stage 2 now, so you are very likely to see one of the British clubs against Madrid or Dortmund, then we'll see how good those 3 British clubs are. Personally, I believe that Madrid and Dortmund will wipe the floor with any of the other British teams - as they would have done to City, but for Hart's performances.

The sad thing is of course that City have by far the strongest squad in England but, for numerous reasons which I could write about all day, they are underachieving. Hopefully, they'll rectify things imminently, but, I doubt it will be adequate to save us in the Champs league.

These are exactly the statistics that need highlighting. We were extremely lucky to not get hammered in Madrid and even more so last night. If you look at all our Champions League games against top class opposition we have been dire and winning none. We did beat a second string Bayern at home but that should not count. Quite frankly the evidence suggests we are not top European class. If Mancini thought the defence need strengthening then we should have bought a top class centre back rather than potential. Teams break with pace and intent against us and we reply with a sustained passing session between our centre backs and midfield. One of which created their goal. Major rethink required.

Any statistic from this group is useless considering it's the strongest group in the history if the competition. It will take more than shots and even work rate to get through for either us or Dortmund.
