He could have played his role in a City squad when he would have trusted Pep to handle his strengths/weaknesses. But no, his personality didn't allow that route. He couldn't handle competition from 18yo Lewis, now the same shite happens with Stanisic (who?).
Cancelo will find himself a level below or 2 and can remain the #blessmemommy loner. A sad story somehow.

Actually it is not Stanisic but Coman and Davies. You would for sure not give Cancelo a position as centre back in a 4-3-3 or play 2 offensive minded fullbacks without a real no. 6 sweeper with four in the back. With Pavard being booked and Hernandez out with an ACL Stanisic (who still has Mbappe in his pocket from a Croatia-France match where he really played great) is the only matching possibility.

If you do not play him as one of the three in the back - would you play him on the sides when you have Davies and Coman available? Coman right now is in a very good scoring form - and Davies is Davies and a natural left foot for the left side. You even know more of Cancelo's strengths and weaknesses as we do!

Maybe Müller is a great example for him. After he was injured in autumn and things worked fine without him they even talked about a new reign without him. He did not start the first two matches after the break and the first match against PSG. But the results without him weren't great and things just run a lot better with him back in the lineup. He has 2 goals and 4 assists in about 450 minutes (in some matches he did not have many minutes - but every match he started and played more than 30 minutes he scored) since the restart - and especially Musiala thrives when he is in. Müller really kept calm during that time even if the degradation was a big media topic. He even gave some interviews or media posts in which he emphasized how important the team is.

Poor Muller, you've gone and jinxed him now, he'll be shite for the rest of the season.

That's quite a lot of Bayern talk in response to my Cancelo post... ;)

Bayern wanted to have him as a cheap option to cover some minutes (we know Comans injury history) while the funny thing is he would have played more minutes for City if he just had worked on like before as part of a team.

Maybe he wins a CL medal sitting on the bench though, before joining Milan or whatever on loan.
 
Seems pretty crazy we didn't include an obligation to buy or at the very minimum some sort of loan fee. They're not going to stump up the 60m? euros option so they've just got 6 months of him for free.

He will come back with his tail between his legs or if he continues to be disruptive then off to loan again. Not looking good for us getting a good fee. Petulant twat.

He has the ability to be brilliant but his mentality is not good enough. Shame as on his day he is a fantastic footballer.

He's no doubt burned his bridges with a lot of City fans. I can't see him being welcomed back with open arms so he'd probably be better moving on permanently. We football fans can be highly protective about our Club. Once you've gone, you've gone.
Unfortunately, as you suggest, it would seem we'll end up getting a lot less money for him, given his attitude.

Absolutely not. The only good outcome for City is selling him in the summer.

Look at how much the mood and team performances have improved since his departure led to a detoxifying of the dressing room. With his personality, even if he came back with the appropriately apologetic attitude in place, it would only be a few months (at most) before his attitude reared its ugly head again and we'd be back to square one. Unless, of course, he got favoured over others continually again, disadvantaging people like Ake and Grealish who've benefited from him not being on the pitch. Obviously that would be totally unfair and would reignite team factions.

There is no way back for Cancelo at City, and the club would be intensely stupid to allow it.

From the looks of things they've got a toxic player already causing them problems from the bench while Dias (who Cancelo didn't like) and Bernie (who is good pals with him, but basically had to double up as agony Aunt) look back to their old selves.

He's worth more than any replacement tbh. He knows the club, he knows he was wrong (Apparently), he is actually very good, he can play peps tactics without a year of getting up to speed.

Perfect fit, as long as he comes back determined to prove himself which seems to be the case considering the headlines around him.
