Sterling's honestly garbage at this level, always been the case. He’s only rapid.. and puts in a shift, that’s pretty much it. All of his goals are tap-ins from elite crosses that could be scored by amateurs. Most overhyped player I’ve ever seen.

Don't even try bringing up his stats, anyone could score against the likes of brighton and watford..

Not good enough, at best he should be an option coming from the bench to change the game with his pace. Shouldn't be anywhere near the starting line-up. He's like Jesus Navas, except that the latter is self-aware and only does what he knows he can deliver. The guy is so full of himself, believing all the undeserved hype he's getting.. Get rid.

Harsh

I do think in the last year he has started to think more about himself than the team at times. There isn't a world in which he should be stepping up to take penalties and a year ago he started taking freekicks which was pretty mental. It's kind of the CRonaldo, Bale, Kane syndrome where they have to take everything even tho there are other players better placed.
His finishing has improved. I'd like to see him work on his pass appreciation as well tho. We should have been 1 up inside 10 mins tonight but the pass wasn't good enough and there are times where moves slow down because he gives a bobbley simple pass or the ball is poorly weighted or it go towards the wrong foot of the teammate. Small differences

With that said, his goal stats do matter tho because it's his pace and sense of where to be which turn pullbacks and crosses into assists. Neither Jesus or Mahrez have that knack. He's also the most likely to draw a pen. Every now and then he's gonna miss an open net, it's just part of the bargain.

And Everton. And Schalke. He scored an important opener against Tottenham in the league this season and Arsenal last season. There's probably a few important goals he's scored for us if you really count them up.

Also, once again, he almost single handedly dragged us to a semi final last year. Does that not count for anything? The sitters are annoying but they are not what's holding us back. Especially when the same players score crucial goals for us elsewhere.

Nobody can disagree that he's scored vital goals, and if anyone says he's shit, look at the assist tonight. That said, I can't ignore the glaring fact that we're supposed to be going for the CL. We're spending like it for god's sake - Ras is our highest paid player (KDB should be mind you).

You look at every team who's won the CL over the past decade and they've all had a player, in their prime, who consistently delivers in the big games. Whether it's Ronaldo at Real, Prime-Messi at Barca, Salah (FFS) at the dippers, Robben at Bayern, Probably Lewandowski for Bayern this year.

When the biggest moments arise, your match winners need to step up. I called it a fork in the road because he needs to be converting on the biggest stage - not just at Everton and Schalke. Like the CL winners mentioned above, if he wants to be a CL winner and the highest paid player at this club - he needs to be clinical.

But what about last year? He scored a 90th minute winner in the R16 and then almost single handedly dragged us through against Tottenham at this stage last year. Why does the miss tonight count for more than the good of last year? Why is everyone so sure he's going to repeat tonight rather than all the times he's done us good?

At the very top level he comes up short.

Elite players dont miss open goals.

Hes fine scoring hatricks against the likes of Southampton but until he becomes more clinicalhe always be a level below the very best.

Aguero’s missed many open goals and damn right sitters.

He should score, yes. In fact, he has to.

The fact there are highlight reels that could see you through to September of open goals tells you it does happen to the elite.

Weak pullback attempt that never reached Jesus early on.
The effort on goal from Kevs amazing pass could have been better.
Rounded it off with that miss at the end.
