useless again, but to keep Billy happy, it's ok for him to not live up expectation or his exorbitant wage because of his birth right bestowed upon him by Billy.
His thread gets activity even when he isn't playing.
The most popular thing people bash Sterling with is how good Foden is... a generational player who is likely to be a Balon D'or contender in years to come, on the level of Haaland and Mbappe.
I'm not getting into this contract discussion that people love to get into until we see what actually happens.Sterling’s going to compared against them though and rightly so - he’s one of our top earners and allegedly close to signing a new contract that will no doubt keep him there, if not raise his position.
A £300k p/w player needs to be one of the very best, otherwise it’s an absolutely dreadful waste of resources. And therein lies the uncomfortable nature of this extension given the season Sterling’s had - especially when he’s dropped down the pecking order.
I don’t enjoy lumping in on him, but we shouldn’t have to have the ‘he just needs to build some confidence’ conversation after every match he fails to live up to expectations.
He has a high benchmark simply because he’s one of the top earners in this side. He’s earned that in the past, no denying that, but people are going to understandably be worried when his performances aren’t up to par for a significant period of time and he’s on the cusp of signing a massive contract extension.
Agreed. I was impressed with his link up play and decision making 2nd half.Finishing really poor but his overall game was very good.
His best for a while. He will never get a fair hearing from some sections of our fan base which is pretty sad considering his trophy haul since signing.
