Games like today are exactly why I’ve never wanted to see him go
Yes he will have poor games and will frustrate but always offers something different in certain games when it’s needed, always shows and never hides and will always provide good numbers in terms of goals and assists throughout a season no matter how many bad games he has
He’s one of the best players in the league against not-top opposition.

Liverpool x3
Chelsea x3
Spurs x6
Arsenal x4

Real Madrid x1
PSG x1
Napoli x2
Monaco x1
UCL Knockouts x7

It's not like he never turns up against the top teams, we're just used to Mahrez and De Bruyne who both have a ridiculously high goal rate in big matches.

How many times did he lose possession though?
Well done on the goals, but they don’t make up for the amount of times he loses the ball to put us under pressure and the poor performances in the last 2 years.
I’d be comfortable with him moving on.

We could have a whole team of Grealish and Mahrez types. We'd never lose the ball but we also wouldn't be anywhere near the league title.

It’s the inconsistency to even do basic things like pass the ball or have a good touch which is why people get frustrated. If he hasn’t sorted that out now then he never will. We are at the point we need consistently high performers not 1 in 10 okay performances.

How shit must the rest of the team be if a “1 in 10 okay performances” player is Pep’s most used player and the top scorer since Pep arrived?

I wouldn’t call Spurs Arsenal or Napoli top teams. Very good teams, but not the top teams.

He’s still had his moments against the top teams though. But my point was a compliment. He’s arguably as good as the best players around against the non-top teams, which makes him obviously a very dangerous player who most teams around can’t handle.

Then people need to chill out. It's mad that our fans have let themselves get so frustrated with every bad touch or miss that they've convinced themselves he's not a great player.

Foden has 23 G+A this season, Sterling has 22 (Foden has 3 more starts). And yet one is considered to be below the standards we need while the other is considered an essential player and is even in contention to win YPotY. Why are they held to such vastly different standards? It's not because Foden's young, as he's now been a regular for several seasons.

It’s inexcusable if you can’t do the basics right. In this case stats are hiding the flaws. It’s unbelievable what his stats could be if he had the added composure to his game.

He is obviously a good player, all i think is he is a level below where we are at the moment. Not many people are enthused to see him starting or coming off the bench nowadays or have any trust to change a game or score that vital goal in the biggest of games or not fluff his lines in a 1v1 which he nearly always does.

People act like we can’t do better, there are better players out there. Not just anyone can replace him because he is effective with his movement but it probably is time for both parties to move on.
Sometimes a fresh start is needed. A couple of new wingers will be needed over the next few years anyway and players will inevitably be moved on.
