was only watching something on youtube the other day, they would put a section in which is overlaping then use an epoxy resin followed by fixing with rivets, the presure change in the cabin can weaken a bad job causing it to fail, this is what happend with the hawaiian plane when the skin peeled off on the top and people were sucked out of the planeInteresting that the section that tore away is where the option of an extra door is. Alaska aircraft don’t have this door, so it suggests that the skin - or whatever they cover the door space with - isn’t strong enough.
