Today is the 75th anniversary of the dropping of an atomic bomb from a US B-29 on Hitoshima.

A little bit of history that should never be forgotten.

God bless to them all, we saw yesterday in beruit an explosion like nothing else, god only knows what them poor souls must’ve experienced

Bill Watt was in the U.S. force ready to invade Japan in August 1945. Recently married, he wrote to his young wife he thought he would not survive.
He was in no doubt Truman's decision shortened the war, saved his life and the lives of many others. He went home to his wife and lived a long and good life as a professor. He also made three daughters, one of whom married an Englishman from Manchester. We are eternally grateful to Harry Truman.

Question: How soon after the bomb dropped did the railway in Hiroshima re-open?
Answer: The next day! Amazing.
