I posted in the transfer forum somewhere a few days ago that I thought Gundogan was being groomed as the Silva replacement instead of others, and by the looks of things I may be right.

Time will tell though.

It has been said that Pep believes only Gundo has the same qualities as Dave, the 'pausa' quality. That comes from Sam Lee so depends if you want to believe who he has spoken to, a good article here, https://theathletic.co.uk/1890161/2...ep-loves-gundogan-foden-wont-play-silva-role/ its behind a paywall but you can get a free trial.

Quietly brilliant today, as he has been for much of the season.

I would though like to see him back at 6 with KDB or Bernardo playing as the slightly deeper 8 ... with Foden pushed to the more advanced 8 role.

But wherever he plays he deserves to play, because he’s playing really well.

Thank God we didnt sign Hosam Aouar

Gundogan is proving that he is more than good enough to fill the CM position.

Looks like he's slowly turning this around and becoming more like Dortmund Gundogan (i.e. the Gundogan that we thought we were getting). Our more conservative, defensive approach is helping too though and helping to mask some of his weaknesses.

Really wanted to see a strong performance against higher quality opposition than the bottom feeders and he's delivered that. Few more of the same against the top teams and I think he's probably turned it around for good.

He’s always been such a silky player.. now seems to be standing up to be counted when we need someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

He's gone up a level recently and it makes me very happy.
He will be remembered very fondly once he leaves, but probably wont get the recognition he deserves until then.

This was a good thread on Twitter about our player's average positioning. Gundo and Bernardo together in the free 8 roles really flourished today.

Game was where? *** Checks note*** Away.

Against a bottom feeder? ***Checks note again*** No, Chelsea. Decent team

Well, that's certainly above his level. I guarantee he had a shit game as usual. ***Checks note again*** Nope... MOTM performance.

Well! Someone is certainly clueless. ws01, you be the judge :)
