I get this error code when Windows Update runs and fails to install the update. Searching on the net suggests its a Registry problem and there are a number of downloads that claim to cure the problem.

Does anybody know if any of these are safe to run or have you any other advice

Well i do not know are they all safe to run, how about an Sandboxin Tryout?

I can only tell bout Reg Organizer (Paying it) its does alot good stuff, i would suggest to try it, your computer will run quicker if you dont do cleanups etc.
