People keep saying stuff like this but I feel like it's a bit redundant because Pep clearly thinks he's better in midfield as well. That's why he's spent the vast majority of his time with the first team there.

Wonderful in tight spaces, good runs and overall a very smart positioning. He has to work a lot on his physicality (he is still young so he will naturally get better at this) and shooting (because it seems Pep will use him in the middle). Sky is the limit.

Brilliant. Was finding the gaps in between the lines time after time and his control is so good he only needs a bit of space. Man of the match for me

It’s not redundant when the large majority of his starts have come from full back, yes he comes inside but defensively he’s a weak link in that position. It’s a different ball game for him when he starts in the middle of the park

Take a bow Rico, not got a look in this season then starts in a free role in the hole in a Champs League game, typical Pep but it worked very well.

I really love his sense of rhythm and timing as well. Holds onto it when he needs to, plays it first time when it's appropriate.
He's a really intelligent player and that doesn't even need to be qualified with "for his age." He just gets it.

Last season when Pep wanted to show Stones how to play in midfield, he called Rico. This season, the lesson is for Kovacic imo.
