Now that Portsmouth have been knocked back, it will mean the top 7 will all qualify together with Fulham if they win the Europa League. The 9th team will be a result of us winning the Fair Play Competition - currently Burnely are in pole position!

"Half the premiership enter Europe"

Platini will coil over if this happens!!

Country has to be in top 3 to get a direct entry under fairplay. Also Fairplay season runs May 1st to April 30th bizarrely (which is why Dunny's sending off in the 8-1 at Boro didn't stop us getting in last time) so there is hardly any time for England to improve their position from 3rd (if that is where they are)

As at end of Jan according to UEFA
Media ReleaseDate: 25/01/2010Communiqué aux médiasNo. 003Medien-Mitteilung Sweden currently top of UEFA Respect Fair Play ranking Three UEFA Europa League places available UEFA’s Respect Fair Play ranking, based on all UEFA competition matches played, at bothclub and national team level, from 1 May 2009 to 30 April 2010, is currently headed bySweden. Taking into account matches up to and including 31 December 2009, leader Sweden,second-placed Denmark and third-placed England are leading the race for the threeadditional slots to the first qualifying round of the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League. For the current intermediary ranking, only associations having played a minimum of 26matches are taken into account. This cut-off point is calculated by dividing the total numberof UEFA matches by the number of national associations. As defined in the club competition regulations, the three places in the UEFA Europa Leaguewill automatically go to the three best-placed national associations in the Respect Fair Playranking, provided they attained an average of 8.0 points or more. The Respect fait playassessments are made by the official UEFA delegates, based on criteria such as positiveplay, respect of the opponent, respect of the referee, behaviour of the crowd and the teamofficials, as well as cautions and dismissals. Each of the three associations allocated an additional place in the first qualifying round of the2010/11 UEFA Europa League will be entitled to enter the club that has won their domestictop-division fair play competition. If this club has already qualified for a UEFA clubcompetition, the second-placed team in the domestic fair play competition may be entered,and, should they also have already qualified, the third-placed team would be considered andso forth. It is even possible for a team that has been relegated to the second highest divisionto qualify for the UEFA Europa League, as a result of its exemplary fair play conduct duringthe domestic championship

nope - changed to 3 teams and no drawing of lots for country 2 and 3 - so there is every chance Burnley could get in...

4 teams in Champs League
3 teams in Europa League
+ 1 if Fulham win Europe League in 2009/2010
+ 1 if England finish in top 3 of Fair Play

Total = 9

Not sure what would happen if Liverpool win Europa League in 2009/2010...

If Fulham win the Uefa they will get one of the three spots already designated to the England, so only 8 will get in. There is no spot for winners it has to come from already allocated spots.

Remember back to Liverpool winning the chumps league, there was no spot for them so they rightly kicked a stink up, Uefa said England should give them Evertons spot (4th place) The Fa said they would not do that so UEFA relented but changed the rulings so Winners automatically took one of the already allocated spots. (I think)

Incorrect, if Fulham win it they qualify automatically without affecting England's 3-team allocation. If Liverpool win it but would have qualified by league position anyway there is no extra place.

2.06 Unless the UEFA Cup titleholder qualifies for the UEFA Champions League through its domestic championship, it is guaranteed a place in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. If the titleholder does qualify for the UEFA Europa League through its domestic competitions, the number of places to which its national association is entitled in the UEFA Europa League does not change. If the UEFA Cup titleholder does not qualify for either the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League through its domestic competitions, its participation in the UEFA Europa League is not at the expense of the contingent of its association.
