There is always this conundrum with Pep. Is he a very good coach or a very good tactician? I saw Haaland today, and he was playing as much non-Halaandish as you can expect from him, thanks to Pep. The guy takes the ball bulldozes towards the goal and rips the net for Dortmund. Today he looked like a Tall White Raheen Sterling trying to square balls to non-existing players.

Pep's system is so dominating at times players look repressed serving it. The system itself is great and attractive, but I do feel players choke under it curtailing their individual brilliance. You have those one or two odd balls like Messi, KDB etc. But most players including Bernardo Silva would do much better and offer way more in a free-flowing system, where the structure is not all.

Yeah it’s ridiculous

People get this idea into their heads that Pep’s players don’t get to play with freedom and he’s hell bent on just keeping possession. That’s total nonsense, every team he’s had has had multiple players that have played with freedom.

People just read or hear something somewhere and start repeating it like it’s the truth. It’s like when Mourinho was having his most success, people talked about how his teams are negative etc etc. actually statistically they were not, they were much higher scoring than people think. Could he strangle a game? Yeah no doubt but you don’t win trophies in multiple countries and in Europe if you’re so negative.

Same with Pep now, people have this stupid idea that he has a very specific way of playing that’s restrictive to some players. It’s garbage. You don’t attain that success rate being that one dimensional.

These two will have the season of their careers to date. Grealish is going to be right up there.
 
Great start to his City career. I love his positive energy and attitude, clearly enjoying his football, playing with a smile, he‘s going to an incredible fan favourite!
 
Gonna take him a bit of time to understand the pressing we do, it's different to other teams. There were times where he wasn't pressing and some times when he was pressing on his own, once he clocks it this should be really special. Should have had 2 goals in that 45mins he played, alone.

Its interesting where Haaland shows up on this graph. You'd think he'll creep up towards
Jack eventually after catching on to City's press.
