You clearly didnt hear what Pep said the team not changing the way we play and that all the new players will have to come in and use their qualities to play the way the team play and have played since he came here......

Haaland is going to have to adapt

look, pep can say whatever he wants to take pressure off the players but we saw today that theres a lot to tweak and new patterns of play to add so we can use Haaland to his fullest potential.

He needs time like all players BUT he has a lot to learn.

Needs to use his physical presence....VVD and Matip had it so os easy....I dont think he has ever had to rely on his strength in the past, more relied on his pace.....this will need to change

Needs to learn what Kun learnt.....to be part of the team play in the build up more.....didnt get invovled enough in overall play

Be interesting to see how many touches he had in the whole game as it didnt seem like many

His first touch was very poor as well

He has undoubted goal threat however....but this will take time to develop the rest
His first touch was very poor but I’m confident once he works in his close control he will go up another level and shine.

If Sterling had missed that chance omg , he will be fine if he scores as many as Sterling I will be made up

What went through his mind when we tried to kung fu kick that first half one in with his wrong foot, I have no idea. Fucking head it mate!

The late chance was a shocker, but it was good to see us have someone actually following in a shot for once.

Barely involved other than that though. Wouldn’t have known he was on the pitch most of the time.

I’d say that was done to how badly the midfield and wide players were though, rather than any fault of Erling.

Touch poor, movement fantastic. We have another Shaun Goater on our hands.
If you know anything about football you know at the top level players touch is always poor while they build up match practice

KDB and even Mahrez had a few loose touches. Pep accepts players will be off the pace first few games and it’s a gamble that usually pays off.

It was the first full season game for Haaland and it will probably take him 6 games or so to be fully effective.

Yesterday was probably the best game for the City players as Klopp has had Liverpool through intensive training and matches over the last 4 weeks and it was shown, how much match fit they were compared to us.

Even so we still created more chances and had more shots on goal.

It will be interesting to see how Pep is going to adapt our game on the number 9.
Our LB and RB with zero crossing and barely playing in last third.
Our RW and LWs were out strikers in last 2 years. They are not used to run to the line and cross.

It’s going to take a while for our midfielders to forget the muscle memory of the way we have played for the past few years , especially in transitions

time and again we had space in behind with Haaland making the run off the last man

the players need to learn to not take as many touches and play the ball into that space

De Bruyne was having a go at Haaland in the second half because he was offside when he wanted to play the ball through but the ball was on as soon as De Bruyne got posession, it needs to go earlier

once through he’s got the pace and strength to beat any player in the world

Bernardo seemed to be on a better wavelength , epically with the cross in the first half

we are so used to playing to feet but it will come in a few weeks

i do not want him to make the movements like jesus or alvarez. he had terrific movement beyond the defensive line of liverpool and not once was he picked out. I do not care he plays like our other past strikers. he was bought to utilize his pace, explosiveness and power behind, prefer the team changes to suit him. if we think he needs to make movements like jesus then we should have kept jesus.
Bang on.

Like Lukaku adapted to Chelsea’s methods last season

You don’t sign Haaland to play false nine and if that’s the plan, we will be making a massive mistake

but Peps not an idiot so take what he says with a pinch of salt

Exactly right

Obviously wasn’t Haalands best performance, and he’ll be the first to almost that. However,

  • He’s played 40 min prior to todays match, with limited practices.
  • Liverpool treated that game like a UCL final (just look at the Nunez celebrations), and have also had 3 more preseason games
  • First time playing with Foden/Alvarez
  • KDB was a shell of himself, same with Grealish.
I’m more worried about his first touch and ability to set other players up, opposed to his own finishing. Haaland had a few attempts that maybe he should have finished, but with our previous attackers, those attempts would not have even been presented.

He will be developed as complete striker, why he should treated any different if our Legends Aguero is taught by Pep to learn our system or he will never survive and getting left out.

Fortunately he did and he become the better player of it, Haaland should do the same being young and have a lot time to learn the same thing Aguero asked for.

Well why would he do it with Aguero and not Haaland. Before Pep Kun use to play on the shoulder of the last defender...Pep also transformed Sterling. He completely re invented how he wants fullbacks to play. I'm not saying Haaland will change everything bit he is going to have to impr9vevon things he isn't used to doing
