9 more wins from 11 games

People need to give their heads a wobble over the liverpool away game, if we play to anywhere near the standard we did away to barca or munich we'll beat them.

just got to take one game at a time, pick up 3 points, and start piling pressure on other three, think our last game in hand is second to last game of season,so we inish with villa and west ham both home, ideal senario if we need 3 points to win league

-- Mon Mar 17, 2014 11:32 am --

in fact 4 out of last 6 at home

You're dismissing them too lightly; they're a bloody good side. Thanks to Villa on saturday, we can now afford one defeat in our remaining games. That may well come at Anfield. A very good side, playing at home in front of the baying scousers, players going down quicker than Gillian Taylforth, massive (sniff!) pressure on the ref. That will be a bloody tough day.

We've been in this position before. I'd expect our senior players to step up and be counted.

I'd still expect chelsea to get some more freak draws/looses and pool won't go unbeaten till season end.

Come on people, all this bigging up of Liverpool. They beat a very poor rags team on the day mainly by virtue of penalties. Their front three are exceptionally strong in my opinion but do we really fear a midfield three of Henderson, Allen & an ageing Gerrard ? Four of their five home games are all ptential banana skins with Spurs, Chelsea, us & Newcastle. Everyone saying this is a positive, I see it differently, 4 of their 5 home games (where you have to pick up 3 points) are major potential banana skins which means they are going to have to pick up wins away from home - which is never easy in the prem league. Conversely, on our home games you would say all of them are winnable.

Can we beat Liverpool at Anfield ? Absolutely, but I don't think we have to, a draw would be good enough, whereas with that being one of Liverpools key home games they have to win. Lets face it any of the top 4 can beat each other home or away on any given day.

Lets not also forget that if we pick up maximum points on our two home games in hand, then Liverpool are at a 4 point disadvantage for the remaining fixtures.

This title is in our hands and there is no room for complacency from the fans. We need to be up for every home game from here on in.

Currently the maximum any of our rivals can get is as follows

Chelsea 90
Liverpool 89
Arsenal 89

As we have a game against United followed quickly by Arsenal it wouldn't be the end of the world if we only got a draw against the gooners as long as we beat United. It would also cause Arsenal to drop 2 points.

While we can beat Liverpool, history suggests we struggle against them, and it will be a hell of a tough ask. Erring on the pessimistic side I say we could lose this one.

If I throw in a draw against Everton lets say we win the rest.

That means we may end up with 86 points. Will that be enough? Well if Arsenal lose at Chelsea on Saturday that would rule them out I think. A draw would leave them both with little room for error, especially as Chelsea have to go Anfield.

For my money Liverpool are in a good place. If they beat us and Chelsea then it's on although if they do lose somewhere else it may be over.

If Chelsea go there and get a draw and beat Arsenal not an unreasonable scenario then they could get 88 if they win all their other games.

All things considered we are not in a bad place, as things are in our own hands and we have a better GD. So if we continue as we have at home and pick up 8 points in our 5 away games it might well be enough.

I think it's just a combination of repeatedly struggling at Anfield combined with them being much better than at any point since we were taken over. We even made Andy Carroll look world class once. They've had inferior players for ages, but they always seem to raise their game and were very, very difficult to beat at the Etihad.

Would take a draw there as long as we beat the rags and Arse, though no reason we shouldn't win every game left like the run we went on after Sunderland away. It's the only competition so only one thing to focus on. We'll have a couple of extra games to fit in but adrenaline should be seeing us through at this point.
