A big "well done" to the Met

When it comes to policing I'd happily allow them to operate a period of zero tolerance and give them the funding they required.

When I was growing we were taught to respect them. Nowadays they have support from public nor government.

I got into a bit of bother when young and the cops came to the door. Let’s just say the aftermath of that visit resulted in it never happening again. Not my most enjoyable interaction with my Da. :)

I know mine would have been the same. The problem nowadays is that these scrotes are more likely to be defended by their parents and call the police out for being to heavy handed.

I was provided no defence whatsoever. A hiding was on the cards from the off and duly arrived. :)

I appreciate this, but surely you know better than anyone, with your previous experience, you know the Police don't always abide by these laws they're "governed" by?
And who decides what's proportionate force is the issue. Guy nicks a phone on a moped, is it proportionate to knock him off that bike at 30mph? Could genuinely kill them
The problem is that we're not dealing with just an ordinary criminal who's nicked a phone. We're dealing with a type of crime that can and does kill people. It's still not too common in the UK, but if you look at what happens in countries where it's a fairly widespread crime, it's really dangerous. They grab someone's bag and speed off while the person is still clinging onto it, often dragging them halfway down the street into traffic. They are then of course driving a heavy piece of metal at high speed through the streets, putting others at risk. So yeah, I'd say it's proportionate to take them down. I mean let's be honest, tripping a bloke who's running away from the police could technically kill him too, but we can't operate a policy of letting criminal go because one of them might die. Frankly, it's a high risk job and they knew the risks when they got into it.

As for getting the wrong person, I really can't see how that would happen. It would be massively unlucky for the police to be in pursuit of a moped robber only to find someone completely unrelated to the incident who also happens to be on a moped, who also refuses to stop. I really can't think of a scenario where that would happen.

Pissed up uninsured scrote wrote my van off last year, result was my insurance has gone up by 80% for my business and my personal car insurance has also gone up because I’ve been involved in a claim even though I was in bed when the twat collided with my van. Anything the bobbies can do to deal with criminal scum is good for me, if one of them dies as a result it’s jelly and ice cream for me.
