I have noticed that diving is particularly looked down upon by strictly prem fans. They make it sound like it is some disgraceful thing to football. While I agree it is crap and should be discouraged. It is no different than hard fouls that are meant to send a message. Something that most strictly Prem following fans applaud.
Grabbing, excessive hard tackling e.t.c. are all a blithe on the beautiful game. They are no less despicable than diving. Mata of fact, diving was to an extent a counter-reaction to dirty football. So some of you need to stop with all the "this is a disgrace to football crap."
They are all cheating tools in the game, and should be equally pilloried or ignored. I get pissed when I here English commentators see a guy go in excessively and barely excapes a card, and they say with a wry smile "oh he is an experienced lad, he knew what he was doing." But then they see a guy dive and the reaction is revulsion and a stern condemnation.
Diving is the cheating tool of the talented, and bullish tackling the cheating tool of the physical. Neither is any more deplorable than the other, and we should stop pretending one is.
