Interestingly, Anthony Burgess, the author of the book was born in Harpurhey, not far from CoMS, then moved to Moss Side. He certainly went to Maine Road as a boy.

Full Metal Jacket is a far better Kubrick film.

yep it falls flat in the last section, and it's a weak film by kubrick standards, but it still has it's moments.

the book is a stone cold classic.

It's a great movie but I always liked the book better, and I think Kubrick made better movies.

But who cares what I think, really.

Don't think it's overrated but I do think The Shining & Full Metal Jacket are Kubrick's best films.
