The reason for the deadline is surely the new squad of 25 rule. We need to know the total number of players in so we can calculate how many must go before 01/09/2010.

At the moment we have 38 in the first team squad. 6 of those don't count as they were under 21 on 01/01/2010. This leaves 32 so, as it stands we must get rid of 7 players. If we were to sign another 4 (incuding the wow) we would have to shift 11 players out in a month.

The transfer window is therefore bound to be frantic right up to the deadline even if it's just players going out. This is of course unless we are happy to pay players who are not allowed to play but I can't see Mancini wanting to work with an overly large squad containing disruptive influences who know they won't be playing under any circumstances.

The info was seven in - ten out...

If you consider Petrov, Boj are already gone - eight more.

Surely one of Bridge/Garrido will be on the list?

I tend to disagree with your selection of outgoing players. I cant see RM getting rid of both Onuoha and Richards. My guess is Richards will stay. I also think that Ireland will stay unless he is part of package - e.g Torres - Ireland plus cash scenario. SWP - not sure about that one either as english and good cover. Don't forget we can loan these players out too.

Can you explain why the club would have Micah doing a daily diary if the intention was to sell him? Doesn't exactly look like professional, attention to detail if they have him earmarked for exit.

Yeah, can't see that myself. Can you imagine his final diary entry? Also he did a video interview recently. He's the one I think will make the cut defo.

The reality is that our owners will ALWAYS be on the lookout for a "marquee" signing - so it'll always be on the cards come the summer transfer window. However, in terms of Mancini's happiness with the make up of the squad - the players brought in in the coming 10 days will be the ones he wants to start the season. The "marquee" will be an extra player...and therefore not integral the manager's immediate plans...if that makes sense.

To be honest, there's actually very little mystery left to this transfer window (as disappointing as that is for some). It's crystal clear we want Balo (or Dzeko), Milner (or Arteta), and Kholarov, to complete our main business for the summer...

My personal opinion is that these players will signal an end to us doing incoming business...

For me if we sign 3 of those players we will be good enough to challenge for the title, top 4 should be nailed on and anything less than that to be considered as an absolute failure of monumental proportions!

It will take a few weeks for us to hit our stride, last season, the opening fixtures were kind in terms of easing the new guys in.

With Spurs away and Liverpool in first two games, albeit with new players of superior quality and a winning mentality, the Premier League will still come as a major culture shock.

And if we as fans think everyone hates us currently, wait until we have stopped spending in this window.

We will finally get a taste of what manure have to put up with every week...the biggest show in town,,,with everyone trying that extra ten per cent to bring us down a peg or two.

I see us top three, but without a top quality central defender, we might have to wait another year for a season-long title fight.

For once I think my guess might be better than yours:

Logan
Garrido
Etuhu
Caicedo
Cruz
Jo
Nielson

and a Robinho swap deal.

I think if all your guesses were to go we would be weaker than we need to be and wouldn't have cover in a couple of areas.

Lets not forget the players dont HAVE to go anywhere.

They could, for example just be registered for Europa League action and not PL action (as far as I can tell the EPL cannot legislate beyond its own competition).

There is also the loan option available for all the players who may be kept for later transfer dealings, Jo is exactly that type of player as he may well play himself into form at a lesser club and be a valuable option come January.

I guess half of the problem is being able to sell the players you really dont want. Im sure we would all quite happily see the likes of Jo, Caicedo and RSC leave the club but if nobody wants them I guess we have to then start to seriously think about selling the likes of Richards, Onouha and Ireland to get the numbers down.
