I went to a the city southampton game under pearce when he brought on a new signing in the second half, I have just found his name Djamel Abdoun he obviously made an impression on me at the time as i have never forgotten about him coming on in his only every game for the club whilst on loan, i wonder why he never got to play again anyone know anything about him, obviously more than his wiki page?

<a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djamel_Abdoun" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djamel_Abdoun</a>

Also any other obscure players who maybe got a 1 off game anyone can remember?

very random moonie. do you remember the iraqi player we got for a bit a couple of years ago. thats probably a random one.

Djamel Abdoun was the guy who said he was the next Ronaldo when he signed for us. But he was shit.

The BBC also picked up on the "new Ronaldo" comment (scroll down to the bit about City):

Although, the guy talked sense to be fair to him:

Manchester City midfielder Djamel Abdoun has blasted Joey Barton following his training-ground fight with Ousmane Dabo. He said Barton picked on Dabo because he would not fight back, and claimed the midfielder acts like "he is the Zidane of Manchester City".
"Joey Barton is a coward. The marks he left on Dabo's face were shocking. Ousmane was unlucky to be caught up in it," said Abdoun.
"He would not hurt a fly, and Barton knew it - he would never have picked on someone like Sylvain Distin, Hatem Trabelsi or Bernardo Corradi.
"Ousmane just pushed him and did not aim a blow, but Barton hit him with punch after punch. "Barton simply does what he likes. He acts the big star - he thinks he is the Zidane of Manchester City, but he is just a player like any other. "He is an over-inflated footballer. He is way, way off from being a Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard. "Manchester City is a great club but the problem is that they have foreigners on one side and English players on the other. "If the two halves manage to bond together City can finish in the top six - but that good mentality does not exist. "In the dressing room the foreign players will sit on one bench, and the English players on the other side. I noticed it straight away when I arrived. "It's time City's people realise football is a team sport, and stop telling the papers the foreigners are to blame for their position. "The clash between Barton and Dabo symbolises the two factions at the club.
"And the guy who started it is the one who is always creating havoc - this is not the first time he has been involved in something like this."

I think you mean Yasser Hussein at Doncaster Carling cup.

He was an Ali B recommendation from Qatar, scored the equaliser v Macc in that freindly when SWP was being sold.

i remember belmadi not sure he is the same guy another flash in the pan there he was supposed to be as good as benarbia :D

Belmandi had a few run outs, left mid/forward debut in the "come on feed the goat" match Xmas 2002/03. Not sure if it was the 4-1 Fulham or 3-1 Villa?

And who was that Dairylea bloke..?

Do you mean Jonathan and Nathan D'Lareya?

They are local lads who went to Stretford Grammar. Last I heard, one of them plays for Eastwood Town and the other plays for Hyde
