I'm with you. Navy socks my arse....he must be confused.
http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Manchester_City/Manchester_City.htm

In our history as Manchester City we've had predominatly navy socks for 72 years, predominatly sky blue socks for 43 years, predominantly white socks for 5 years and predominantly black socks for 1 year.

Even as Ardwick we had navy socks for 6 out of 7 years (black being the other remaining year).

We had black socks as Ardwick.

We've had sky blue socks with maroon trim for just 8 years out of our 130 odd year history.

I personally prefer navy socks as when you see a team in sky blue shirts, white shorts and navy socks, you know instantly it's Manchester City, it couldn't possibly be anyone else.

Napoli, Coventry, Lazio, Uruguay all wear similar colours to us, but none of them wear navy socks and white shorts.

I don't mind sky blue socks, especially with maroon turnovers, but white and striped socks just aren't City at all.
Yeah I prefer navy socks too.

As soon as City fans get any whiff that the kit is just one of your generic templates in the appropriate colours, you can fuck off.

Dead right. We want an individually designed shirt, not a sky blue version of every other shirt Nike do! MCFC should be setting the agenda here and tradition should be the over-riding design element!

Very concerned with this. What Nike has done to the NCAA (college) Football uniforms over here is horrendous. Thrown tradition totally out. Look like something a Hollywood studio would design for a futuristic sport.

Dear Nike,

A simple & yet probably the most easiest of requests...

Don't sell Umbro! Let MCFC be the team that makes Umbro a profitable subsidiary of your company. Don't complain "it's not a brand that makes money" what could appeal more than the EPL champions in an Umbro shirt, not only keeping tradition but a Manchester company on a Manchester teams shirt. We go hand in hand, they know us, we know them & the fans will buy. Link us with those rags out of town, if even only by your "swoosh", & you run the risk of poor shirt sales down the line from the true Manchester club.

Together we'll make Umbro the brand you'd ideally like..

Go on Nike, just do it!
