A sure-fire way to know when a player is on his travels - putting their house up for sale. And that's exactly what West Ham stopper Mathew Upson has done, according to the Sun. Liverpool are thought to be long-term admirers...and so is Mark Hughes says Lionheart.

Wouldn't mind him. Rather have Upson for around 8m than lescott for 18m. Upson is as good a defender as Lescott anyway.

What a stupid thing to say about a quality defender. Have you not heard of a bloke caled Maldini who played for that shitty team AC Milan until he was well past forty.

Not really bothered about Upson either way, but central defenders aren't past their best at 29. He's got at least 3 or 4 more decent years in him.

I wouldn't want Upson but i'd would take him at 6-8million. He is very solid and one of the better defenders of last season.

Maldini played at AC Milan for that long because he is one of the best defenders of all time. I would not place Matthew Upson in that same category and if he was that good then WHU would put out the strongest statement possible that he was not for sale at any price and was a player they wanted to build their defence around.
