The best way to avoid this problem that affects all good men is to do this:-

Press pause on your sky remote, sit up and look directly at your wife/girlfriend and simply say " I have stopped what I was doing you have my full attention this had better be fucking worth it"

Won't get a peep out of them for the rest of the evening.
