A week to go

Can't get excited yet, probably because there's already been a couple of weekends of the Football League and also because of the international nonsense. Even then we aren't playing until Monday so I probably won't started getting up for it until the first Prem results come through on Saturday. Though a pre-season discussion in the pub on Friday night will bring it forward by a few hours.
I'll be giddy as a kipper by Monday afternoon though.

I've got the supporter equivalent of pre-match jitters. I've been waiting for the season to start for weeks and now I've reached the point where it's gone on for far too long, I've overthought what's going to happen and now I'm all anxious because I've got my cityitis all wound up.

I bloody hate the close season. Just hurry up and start already!!

Just hope everyone comes back unscathed from these shitty midweek fixtures. I'm a bit worried
about Vinny's comments about being tired, due to heavy training sessions already. We heard
this from the players at the start of last season aswell. Hopefully the extra days preparation
for this fixture will stand us in good stead. Come on Blues.

Been counting down the days all summer.

I'd be far more excited if our opening game wasn't on bloody monday though. Wont be able to watch due to work.

Really looking forward to this season. Think its going to be a tight top four this time.

I know our management has promised us entertaining football but to be honest I would be happy with a very dull and boring 1-0 win if I am honest.

Still not sold out. We'll struggle to sell out a 60,000 seater stadium.

if they make the tickets cheaper in general we could sell out 80,000 no problem. Hamburg is the example i think it was something like 18,000 tickets sold in a day. Locals and fans who have been priced out would go again

Most of the remaining seats are in the Newcastle allocation sent back late (South Stand 2nd level). It'll sell out.

I know it sounds fickle, but that friendly loss to Arsenal has dampened my spirits. I was genuinely very confident ahead of the season, thus not too worried about Newcastle, but Arsenal made us look as toothless as we were last season while looking much poorer defensively. Nastasic out, Aguero out, suddenly I'm not as confident as I was.

In reply to the person who said that we had not sold out and that we would not be able fill a 60k capacity stadium does he realise that there are only about 600 tickets still available with a week still to go? When you take into account that Newcastle returned over 900 of their allocation it does not take a mathematical genius to work out that had they sold their full allocation then we would already be in a demand exceeding supply situation!! Just the sort of comments that the City knockers thrive on and create all the negativity in the papers and on Radio/TV.

Can't wait personally. The night before the season is like Christmas eve for grown ups. Only seven more sleeps!

Absolutely excited, nervous, apprehensive, curious, impatient. All those things.

Be nice to sign a centre half, but I'd understand if the club chose not to go down that route.

Beyond that the balance of the squad is bang on. The players we have in all positions are quality.

All down to Manu now to get the team ready and get them to deliver. Knowing what I do about his previous teams and the way they've played - I feel confident that with the tools at City he will do something not just successful, but special.

Billy - as you seem to be well clued up on how MP has set his teams up int he past, what do you think will be his prefered line up/set up.

My concern is that he sees Yaya (as RM did at times) as a deeper lying play maker....this worries me in a number of ways....Firstly Yaya's defensive ability is poor and secondly he is wasted there and far more effective ( a match winner) when played further forward......for me it is fernandihno who should protect the back four using his pace and fast passing to change defense to attack quickly.....

How he sets up his forwards is nmore down to who we play but I hope he sees Aguero as the main striker with one of dzeko or Negrado to partner him...for me dzeko just isnt consistent enough so its his last chance (this season) as far as Im concerned..he needs to step up big time

MP has wonderful attackign options then with Nasri, Jovetic, navas and silva al able to create.....but I just havent seen that much evidence of an upgrade in creative quality in the friendlies and Im hoping we have just been holding back in those games....??????

Hamburg? About a fiver each with very few restrictions for a European quarter final? Hardly the best example unless you think season tickets will be cheap as chips.

I'm slightly disappointed we haven't seen more of Jovetic in pre season. Got high hopes for this lad. Really can't wait to see what his first line up will be. A front six of Aquero, Silva, Navas, Jovetic, Yaya & Fernandinho has goals all over it. I know that is slightly open but well worth watching.

I've not been this excited for the season for a fair few years. It just seems like for the first time we don't just have the money but also a sense of stability. In the past we've had the money and talent but its always been in a chaotic way. Everything seems right at the club. If I'm nip-picking in my opinion we need a centre half. Personally I'd like Pepe from Madrid. I honestly think this season we will win the league and get to at least the QF of the CL
