Might get slaughtered for this but we have the player in the squad already....James Milner, if he can get a run of 5-10 games in the middle of the park i reckon he could potentially be that player. Hopefully with the addition of one wide player or two we wont have to see him stuck out on the wing where he has been average for 10 years.

His work rate is obviously great but I just don't think Milner has got the tecnical ability to ever be "like gerrard"....Can't see Milner banging in 35-40 yard screamers like Gerrard

Disagree here matey. I certainly recall a few 'screamers' he scored for Villa. One in particularly stands out at Sunderland which flew in the top corner from distance. The way we tend to play our style of football doesnt really create the space from say 20-30 yards for screamers, however I am sure if we shot more it might help !

I think Milner is EXACTLY the player to play alongside NDJ next season.

I've said for a while that Yaya is much more effective running from a deeper position and being more of a box to box mid than an attacking mid. Milner would be the better option as the most forward minded midfielder.

I honestly think a defensive mid pairing of DJ and Yaya with Richards and Kolarov/?Baines breaking from the right and left back positions Milner as the AM and a front three of anyone from Silva, Tevez, Balo, Dzeko, Johnson, *New Forward(Sanchez?)* would be a very effective lineup. You can easily shift to 4-4-2 if needs be and Yaya and Milner can freely swap roles if Yaya goes on a surge forward.

-----------------Hart-------------
-------Komps-------Lescott------
Richards-------------Kolarov/Baines?
--V--------------NDJ---------V----
-------------Yaya------------------
----------------Milner--------------
AJ/Sanchez?---------------Balo/Silva
------------Tevez/Dzeko-----------

The Vs show the full backs getting forward to join the attack. The front 3 of course would be fluid and also Milner may swap in with all three any time so making it a fluid front 4 or even 5 when Yaya gets forward.

Johan gourcuff 24 or javi martinez 22 for me, both look class! Goucuff controlled the midfield for france when they played england at wembley and was spraying passes left right n centre although he will be more difficult to get as he's a crucial part of lyons setup. Martinez is younger n only seen him on youtube videos until i watched him in the u21s championship. He is the real deal!! protects the ball, excellent passer, tall, strong n pretty quick for his size. Hes been linked with both liverpool n united, but i rck city cud snap him up for 25mill a club like athletico bibao cnt refusee that sort of money!
